Neti

To Neti or Not?

With allergy season in high gear in AZ, and getting ready to start in many other parts of the country, neti pots are reappearing in many households.  Here at Revolution Health Medical Center we are seeing many patients for allergy testing in general, and encourage the use of neti pots on a regular basis for those experiencing congestion.

Is it ok to use a neti pot every day?  In a recent TODAY Health article many of the common questions surrounding this were addressed.  The overwhelming response to the questions surrounding the use of the neti pot daily is yes.  As with anything, as you see from reading the article and discussion with our doctors, is cleanliness and caution.

  • Do not share the neti pot with anyone else
  • Use a reliable water source, preferably distilled or boiled water (then cooled)
  • Keep the neti pot clean after each use
  • Do not reuse the saline and water mixture after each use

Our Doctors are available to discuss and demonstrate the use of the neti pot to you during your appointment if appropriate for the treatment of your nasal congestion.

February is American Heart Month 2016!
