WASHINGTON – Kale has higher pesticide residues than nearly all other produce found on supermarket shelves, according to the Environmental Working Group’s 2019 Dirty Dozen™.
EWG releases the Dirty Dozen as part of its annual Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce™, which analyzes Department of Agriculture test data to identify which fruits and vegetables are most and least contaminated with pesticide residues. The Shopper’s Guide also includes the Clean Fifteen, a list of the fruits and vegetables with the lowest amount of residues.
What are the current dirty dozen identified by EWG? Also the clean 15!
You hear a lot about buying organic, and you also see the prices that can be associated with it. Help narrow down what you should be spending that extra money on, because some organic purchases may not be necessary.
EWG identifies what they call the “dirty dozen” and the “clean 15” each year. This is based on pesticides that you could be ingesting by eating non-organic versions of the dirty dozen. The clean 15 are those fruits and veggies that you are able to purchase from the non-organic section, without fear of exposure to chemicals. Read More

Our tongues can provide meaningful and fascinating information about our state of health and nutritional status. The bulk of knowledge about the diagnostic aspects of the tongue comes from ancient Chinese medicine, which clinically observed the tongue for over a thousand years. Chinese medicine uses three main factors when “reading” the tongue, looking at the coating, color and shape.
