The 5th Annual US Naturopathic Medicine Week is October 8-14, 2017.
Resolutions passed by the US Senate, as well as a number of State proclamations, have recognized the ability of naturopathic physicians to “provide safe, effective, and affordable health care” and to play an essential role in addressing the nation’s pressing shortage of primary care physicians. This year Naturopathic Medicine Week is October 8-14.

Having A Better Understanding of Your Rash
~By Dr. MaryK Geyer NMD~
First, let me state that I am not a dermatologist. I am a primary care doctor (PCP) with a specific interest in dermatology. Through this passion, and learning from a few wonderful dermatologists and dermatology-focused doctors, I’ve become a Naturopathic Primary Care doctor with a focus in dermatology. The reality is, in primary care, we cannot escape dermatology; 25% of our appointments involve skin concerns. The skin is our largest organ, and our internal health or disease easily manifests on this gateway between our internal and external environment.
Now, because of this, I know many pediatricians and general medicine doctors that cringe when they see “rash” on their schedule. To our defense, rashes look very similar, and require very systematic investigation if the diagnosis is not readily apparent in office. With that said, I admittedly cringe a little each time a patient shares with me in office, “I was diagnosed with a rash by my doctor”, often followed by “x cream was prescribed” and they don’t know why. Now, they wouldn’t be sitting in my office for a second opinion if x or y therapy had worked, or more specifically, they had cured the “rash”. Read More

Each year the Environmental Working Group puts out a list of foods that you should choose from the organic section whenever possible, called the Dirty Dozen. The information they have provided in their article below will make you understand the importance of this and the impact on your health.
You will also learn about the Clean Fifteen, which are items you do not need to be as cautious about when selecting them at the grocery store. Read More
Long Term Shoulder Pain? It Could Be Frozen shoulder.
~~By Joshua Erickson LMT, Revolution Health Medical Center~~
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is stiffness, severe pain, and limited range of movement in your shoulder. It may happen after an injury, overuse or from health issues such as diabetes or a stroke. The tissues around the joint stiffen, scar tissue forms, and shoulder movements become difficult and extremely painful. The condition usually comes on slowly, and then goes away even more slowly taking a year or more for recovery.
Many people can’t get through their daily activities such as dressing, driving, typing at a computer and simple lifting due to the severe pain and restricted motion. Sleep is generally interrupted as well. However, before assuming what you have is frozen shoulder, see our doctors to rule out other conditions or injuries through physical testing and imaging.
What To Reach For When Dealing With Burns
~By Dr. MaryK Geyer NMD~
Burns can occur when the skin has been damaged as a result of heat (sun, hot liquids), electricity, corrosive chemicals, or radiation (tanning beds, radiation treatments).
The amount of damage that a burn can cause depends upon its location, depth, and the amount of body surface affected. Following is a brief introduction to the classifications of burns: Read More
Know Your Numbers: Cardiovascular Health Testing
It’s never too late or too early to take steps to protect your heart. The first step is specialized lab testing to determine your risks so your doctor can develop a customized treatment plan for you. In the past, doctors have predominantly focused on cholesterol as the primary factor in determining heart health. It is now known to be so much more than just cholesterol.
The better assessment includes testing for:
- lipid profile
- myocardial stress
- lipoprotein markers
- fatty acids
Revolution Health Medical Center utilizes the following cutting-edge testing from Vibrant America Labs to ensure you receive the best assessment of your heart health. Read More
