Detox Breakfast

CROCKPOT OVERNIGHT OATMEAL–

Setup this detox breakfast recipe the evening before to avoid any excuses about food-prep time the next morning.  Wake up to the smell and taste of healthy crockpot oatmeal.  Easy to make and you can adjust the flavor by adding nuts, seeds, fresh fruit or other acceptable detox choices before you sit down to eat it!

(Makes 2 servings)

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup steel cut oats
2 cups water
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup dried cranberries
*Optional:  Detox friendly sweetener of your choice.

DIRECTIONS:

  • Combine the oats, water, cinnamon and vanilla extract in a small, 1 or 2 quart slow cooker.  You will need to multiply the recipe for larger slow cookers.
  • Cook on low for 8 hours.
  • Stir in the cranberries and optional sweetener when serving.

Note:

  1. It is not recommended that you use any other type of oats with this. Steel cut oats do the best for  long cooking times.
  2. If you choose to cook this with apples, place the apples at the bottom of the crockpot before you add the other ingredients as they take longer to cook.
